Welcome to the website for Eden Campus, a mixed-use redevelopment of the Surrey House Island site in Kingston upon Thames. We want to transform this underutilised area into new homes, office and retail space. This exciting new development will be designed to respect the heritage assets of the area while maintaining a high level of sustainability throughout.
In March 2021, Kingston Planning Committee (then known as the Development Control Committee) approved Cube’s application for the redevelopment of the Surrey House Island site. The plans for the new Eden Campus included Unilever’s new global headquarters, 115 new homes, of which 35% would be affordable, replacement car parking designed for electric cars and new landscaping, bringing the historic Hogsmill River back to life. The application can be found here.
While planning was granted by Kingston, and subsequently by the GLA, Cube continued design development prior to the start of construction. After nine months of work, undertaken in partnership with the GLA and Kingston Council, Cube has announced new and improved plans for the site. These changes have been submitted to Kingston in the form of an s73 application, which seeks a variation on an existing planning permission.
While all these improvements will be provided, all of the benefits associated with the approved permission will be retained, the affordable homes, the 2,000 jobs in Kingston Town Centre, new landscaping and electric ready car parking will still be delivered.
The new plans reflect Cube’s continued commitment to responding to the ambitions of the local community and delivering the highest quality development for Kingston.
